‘Fernweh’ can be described as the urge to be somewhere else. It is the opposite of being homesick. The work plays with the idea that one can travel mentally as well as physically. In an imaginative airport setting, the narrator describes his surroundings – whether they are real or fiction, which in turn makes him go back to primordial questions.
